Australia revises import conditions for confectionery for human consumption

On June 14, 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment issued new conditions for the import of confectionery for human consumption. Confectionary products arriving in Australia do not need to provide an import license if they meet the following conditions: (1) The manufacturer's declaration or the product label provides: the product contains less than 10% dairy or eggs; the product does not contain meat and meat products. ; (2) The product is solid and can always maintain the same character. Once the product arrives in Australia, it may not be distributed, sold or used for animal use, environmental purposes (including use as bioremediation material or fertilizer), for aquaculture or for veterinary treatment. In addition, each shipment needs to provide: cargo identification number, such as entry number, etc.; consignment identification document such as invoice, waybill or importer's manifest; product description document. In addition, the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has removed the requirement for commercial preparation and packaging of confectionary products. The above import conditions will come into effect on June 15, 2022.
